Summer 2023 (August)
The essence of summer in late July and early August always seems to carry such a creative and marvelous intensity, including harvesting all the beautifully abundant herbs and making a plethora of delicious creations from all the gifts from the garden - and let’s not forget about keeping up with “produce management” (kale, zucchinis, squashes, and green beans, oh my!) and composting too!
In our sacred community’s Garden of the Red Thread (a sanctuary which honors Divine Feminine consciousness), there are many celebratory activities (such as picking herbs) which emerge during beautiful summer time months as well as the need for focused intention, perseverance & commitment.
During this busy time, moving through the ups & downs while simulataneously trying to live inside the wonder and sacredness of our every day moments, we call upon the Mycelial Healing Light Imprintsial Patterns more & more to help us shift - shifting what feels stuck or impossible, reaching to find more hope & insight, to infuse more light into the dark, to raise our vibration, and to receive new perspectives. In doing so, we are exploring and discovering how amazingly they lift the energy, subtly and gently, as we change and situations and people change around us - all for the better. They are potentizing us and we are potentizing them in our increasing awareness of their power and effectiveness.
We enjoy working with the wilderness of the garden which activates exploring the wilderness within ourselves as well (be sure to read the book that inspired us called The Wilderness Within by Clarity for further inspiration); feeling the variety of textures, listening to the snap of fresh green beans, and smelling the potent and healing scents of thyme, basil, cilantro, parsley, rosemary and mint. Each one requires time, energy & attention to preserve its beauty, taste, and most delicious usefulness for our cooking and health/wellness needs. We are so grateful to tend to their needs as they tremendously help assist our needs too - a symbiotic relationship for sure orchestrated by Mother Gaia.
The creative juices start flowing once we start working together with the herbs to infuse olive oils & vinegars, make an eclectic variety of pestos, dry them for teas & seasonings, whip up herb butters, & freeze them for future use. Also, nothing beats the fresh taste of “straight-from-the-garden” dishes and time-honored recipes to be savored & only made this time of year. We love to hearing the treasured stories of some of the original recipes from decades past which makes for a very rich meal together in so many ways. Luckily, using certain methods, we get to enjoy the fresh taste of summer even during the winter which makes our hearts feel so happy!
Harvesting & processing thyme is particularly “time” consuming but very rewarding & has perhaps provided the most assistance this year in helping us cultivate a new relationship with time — to find the patience and the stillness & the breath, in doing tasks that require spending more time with. Maybe that’s why it’s called thyme for a reason!
We love the collaborative culinary creative expressions that emerge during this time of year, as we get to work together to make some of our community’s most cherished delights. We honor our sacred Garden of the Red Thread who has given us so much and we honor how She holds a very sacred consciousness of the Divine Feminine presence in this world - and we are grateful.
Though this time may be busy, the Garden reminds us to slow down (smell the roses) and sit just a little longer to enjoy the sweet fragrance in the air, watch the bees and hummingbirds hover from flower to flower, and enjoy the flowers swing with the wind while we swing on our garden swing - being present in the moment, breathing, and taking it all in deeply, and being aware of how different we are just from last summer.
Amazing to witness all the seasons of the garden and we take in the gift of how we, too, go through cycles - just like the garden. We find ourselves in the alchemical phases the Garden constantly and naturally exhibits — from the seeming dark stillness of the germinational and gestational phases of the planted seeds in the soil awaiting the unlocking of such potential, to all the phases that must be moved through before we find ourselves surrounded, seemingly overnight, with the beauty of blossoming flowers dancing in the light of the sunshine, at the peak moments of their wild nature, their cathedral climb, and ultimate expression of bliss.
We then embrace the alchemical phase in which we honor the fresh herbs and flowers during harvest time and enjoy their presence all year long. The garden helps us uncover more layers about ourselves and helps us embrace change while enjoying the now moment. Both light and dark are needed for change and growth. We feel so much more aware of this in both our inner and outer landscapes this year and are so grateful for this gift from Mother Gaia.
We are so grateful to Clarity for deeply listening for the blueprint of the Garden Plan each year and for our community for tending, watering, and upkeeping such an exquisitely sacred sanctuary space.
